Important Dates
Annual Spring Clean-Up - April 20 To 24
Each spring, the District of Hope designates one week when residents
can clear their yards of discarded appliances, scrap metals, branches, furniture
etc. Spring Clean-Up Week applies to those who pay annual residential garbage
fees. Commercial, industrial and institutional customers are not eligible
Here are some tips for a successful spring clean-up for '98:
- Only one pickup truck load per residence will be picked up. If you exceed
one pickup load of material, you are permitted to take one pick-up load
of yard and household items to the Hope Landfill site from April 20 to April
24, 11:00 to 4:00 P.M., at no charge. Excess materials will not be picked
up.
- Group items into three categories for pickup: a) metal; b) wood waste;
c) garbage. Place these items adjacent to regular refuse and blue bag
recycling.
- Paint or batteries will not be accepted. These items may be taken directly
to R & R Recycling at 930 Sixth Avenue.
- No asphalt, concrete, railroad
ties, oil, varsol, paint thinners, or treated lumber will be accepted. For
further information on disposing these items, call the Recycling Hotline
at 1-800-667-4321.
- Branches and brush cuttings should be cut into four foot
lengths or less and bundled in one foot diameter bundles with string or
rope, not wire. Stumps will not be picked up.
- Items must be placed at curbside
on the same day as your regular garbage pick up day. Crews will not retrieve
items from your house or back yard.
- Tires will be accepted but rims must be removed.
