Rotary Club of Hope - Serving the Community Since 1946

The Rotary Club of Hope is located at the northeastern edge of Rotary District 5050, a district that includes the Fraser Valley area of British Columbia, Canada and the northwestern part of Washington State, USA.  We are located in the community of Hope, population 8,000,  which is situated at the junction of 4 major highways between BC's Lower mainland and the rest of the province. Because "city dwellers" from Greater Vancouver often travel through Hope to reach the extensive selection of parks and recreational areas in our neighborhood, we have long been known as the "Gateway to Holidayland"

Our Club currently has 19 members and meet every Thursday night at 6:00 PM at the Kan Yon Restaurant 840 Third Ave. in Downtown Hope. The walls of the dining room at the restaurant are covered with banners left by Rotarians that have visited the club in its 50 plus years and represent all continents of the world.

The Hope Rotary Club was chartered in 1946 and has been involved in  local community projects since the beginning. This  tradition carries on to the present, with more new and exciting community development projects being planned. Presently, a number of  parks and trails, the local Health Unit, the Hope Museum, local sports facilities and enhancements to the Fraser Canyon Hospital proudly display the Rotary Wheel as projects completed by our Club. We have also teamed up with other community groups in supporting larger projects, such as the new Aquatic Center/Library Complex. A well used club project from 2 years ago is the Rotary Deck, which overlooks the Mighty Fraser River at the edge of town on Water Street. And this year, to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Rotary, our club donated and installed the Rotary Clock, which greets visitors and locals alike in its plaza in front of Municipal Hall.

The club is also proud of its involvement with the local school system. It sponsors a yearly bursary program in the local High Schools, participates in student exchange programs, and honors a Student of the Month from the Hope High School each month.

Our major fund raisers of the club include a community wide weekly draw, a fall Charity Dinner and a live auction in the spring. We also are in the midst of planning a new and exciting event for May of next year. Stay tuned for more details on this site.
